History of Embry Riddle Arizona Athletics
Embry Riddle Arizona is home to the Flying Eagles, a Division II athletics program that is a member of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). The Flying Eagles program was established in 1998 and has grown in size and prestige ever since. The Flying Eagles compete in 13 different sports, including baseball, basketball, cross country, football, lacrosse, soccer, softball, tennis, and track and field.
Success of Embry Riddle Arizona Athletics
The Flying Eagles have seen a great deal of success in the past decade. In 2019, the men’s basketball team won the CCAA Championship, and the men’s soccer team made it to the Final Four of the NCAA Division II tournament. The Flying Eagles have also seen success in other sports, such as baseball and softball, where they have won several conference championships.
The Flying Eagles Program Today
Today, the Flying Eagles are a force to be reckoned with in the CCAA. The program has seen tremendous growth, as it now has more than 250 student-athletes competing in 13 different sports. The team has also seen success in the classroom, as the student-athletes boast a 3.0 GPA on average.
Notable Alumni
Embry Riddle Arizona has produced some notable athletes who have gone on to have success in professional sports. Some of the most famous alumni include NFL players such as linebacker Shane Skov, wide receiver Bruce Ellington, and defensive back Brandon Boykin. The Flying Eagles have also produced several Major League Baseball players, including catcher Tyler Flowers and pitcher Tyler Anderson.
